Summary of the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program Event in Oslo
nolla_E’s Energy Specialist, Tuomas Ojanperä, attended the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program workshop held in Oslo on April 10th. The aim of the Nordic Circularity Piloting Program is to advance circular economy solutions within technical building systems. The event was conducted as a hybrid session, taking place both at Multiconsult’s Oslo headquarters and online. The event brought together over 70 leading experts from the field, both onsite at Multiconsult’s Oslo headquarters and virtually. The focus was on exploring the opportunities for expanding the reuse of technical installations in the context of the circular economy. Through engaging presentations and a hands-on matchmaking session, the participants discussed how different players are already taking steps toward circularity and what is truly needed to scale these efforts.
Key takeaways from the event:

Action plans and guides for the installation sector
Johanna Andersson from IVL presented valuable lessons from Swedish development projects that emphasized the importance of creating a circular flow within the installation sector. She shared an action plan encouraging installers to be proactive in offering circular economy solutions to their clients, reducing waste, and increasing the use of reusable materials.
Expanding reuse through value chain partnerships
Anastasia Wraa from NG Nordic shared practical examples of how value chain partners can support the scaling of circular economy efforts in construction projects. One example was the reuse of ventilation ducts in Oslo, where collaboration between manufacturers and contractors led to a 95% reduction in CO2 emissions by reusing HVAC components.
Reverse logistics and product recovery
Klas Österberg from Demontera spoke about the importance of reverse logistics and selective dismantling in enabling reuse. Their projects emphasize the significance of collaboration with various stakeholders for the successful implementation of circular economy projects.
The role of designers in enabling the reuse of technical installations
Anders Liaøy from Multiconsult and Line Karlsen from Höegh Eiendom showcased the role of designers in facilitating the reuse of technical installations. Their case studies, such as the Glynitveien 33 office building, demonstrated how reusing HVAC components can reduce costs and emissions while maintaining energy efficiency.
Reflection and next steps
The event highlighted that transitioning to a circular economy in the construction and building sectors is not just about technical solutions; it is also a process that requires collaboration. Key stakeholders in the value chain – designers, suppliers, contractors, and clients – need to intensify their cooperation in order to create scalable models that benefit all parties involved.
nolla_E is proud to be part of this development work. We will continue integrating circular economy practices into our projects and are excited about the opportunities presented by the continuous development in the field. This requires ongoing collaboration with other stakeholders to promote positive change in the construction industry.
